ABT SE develops innovative multi-level batteries with BAVERTIS and strengthens positioning in the field of alternative drivesEQS-News: ABT SE / Key word(s): Miscellaneous ABT SE develops innovative multi-level batteries with BAVERTIS and strengthens positioning in the field of alternative drives
Kempten, 09 March 2023 – The ABT Group, a leading internationally positioned technology-driven automotive company in the fields of eMobility and refinement with a strong brand, is stepping up its growth course in the field of alternative drives with the development of a new battery module for electric vehicles. In cooperation with the Munich-based startup BAVERTIS, the ABT Group subsidiary ABT e-Line is planning to develop high-performance, modular multi-level batteries. These are considered to be the next generation of energy storage and address the growing market for storage solutions in eMobility.
The innovative multi-level technology makes it possible to generate any AC or DC voltage directly from the battery. This is achieved by intelligently reconfiguring the battery cells several thousand times per second. Such multi-level batteries can be equipped with different cell technology and are characterised, among other things, by a superior performance, more efficiency, and a significantly higher failure safety than conventional batteries. In addition, significantly fewer components are needed.
ABT plans to develop together with BAVERTIS and other partners the multi-level battery modules and systems for its own products as well as to act as a supplier for the (automotive) industry.
As a system developer in this partnership, ABT can rely on decades of experience in battery development and the production of more than 4,300 electric vehicles in cooperation with the VW Group. The Munich-based start-up BAVERTIS has focused on the development of software-controlled battery ecosystems which enable the optimal use of energy storage in e-vehicles.
Hans-Jürgen Abt, CEO of ABT SE: "The most recent development partnership in the field of multi-level batteries underpins the innovative strength of the ABT Group. The Alternative Drives & e-Mobility division addresses a strongly growing future-proof market. With the development of novel, intelligent batteries for electric vehicles, we are positioning ourselves in this growth area and leverage our long-standing know-how in the field of eMobility."
