Alkagesta Reports Record First-Half 2026 Results Across Global Trading Platform
SLIEMA, MALTA – (EuropeNewswire.net) -- Alkagesta, the international energy and commodity trading house headquartered in Malta, has announced record results for the first half of 2026, with revenue reaching $3.5 billion and trading volumes rising 53% year on year to 4.9 million metric tonnes — reflecting continued expansion across its international trading platform, including growing operations in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Based on current trading activity, the company expects full-year 2026 volumes to exceed 10 million metric tonnes, building on a record 2025 financial year in which Alkagesta generated $4.7 billion in revenue. Alkagesta Alkavex: Steel Trading Expansion into Africa Among the strategic developments of the period is the continued growth of Alkavex, a Malta-based joint venture between Alkagesta and Navex SAS — a well-established French steel trading company — in which Alkagesta holds a majority stake. With an initial focus on semi-finished and finished steel products, Alkavex sources primarily from China and serves customers across West and East Africa, combining market expertise, logistics capabilities, and trade finance solutions to support growing regional demand across construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure development. Singapore Operations Scale to 250,000 Metric Tonnes Per Month Alkagesta's Singapore hub, established under Alkagesta Asia Pte in July 2025, reached monthly trading volumes of approximately 250,000 metric tonnes during the first half of 2026 — representing around 5% of Singapore's marine fuels market — with revenue of $1.01 billion, representing approximately 171% growth versus the full year 2025. Malta Operations and Mediterranean Presence Alkagesta's Malta operations continue to serve as a central node across its Mediterranean trading and logistics network. The company's storage footprint on the island approaches 300,000 cubic metres. As analysis of Malta's bunkering market has highlighted, the island's strategic position at the crossroads of major Mediterranean shipping routes reinforces its importance within Alkagesta's wider European trading platform. Malta also serves as the base for the company's compliance, governance, and ESG functions. New Business Lines The period saw Alkagesta enter two new commodity areas. The company commenced Jet A1 deliveries into the European aviation market following access to the NATO Central Europe Pipeline System (CEPS), and completed its first crude oil transactions, including end-to-end delivery of approximately 1.07 million barrels to the Far East. Orkhan Rustamov, CEO of Alkagesta, commented: "These results reflect the progress we have made through a measured and disciplined approach to growth. Despite significant volatility across global commodities markets, our focus has remained on serving our clients reliably and building our business on strong, long-term relationships. We will continue to grow strategically, step by step, strengthening our presence in the markets where we operate and ensuring that our communication lines, capabilities and regional networks remain resilient." Senior members of the management team currently hold a 35% equity stake in Alkagesta, with leadership expressing its intention to increase this further. Total storage capacity across Europe and Asia reached 700,000 m³ following a multi-year biofuel storage agreement at Pantank in Antwerp signed earlier this year.
