Aperam Strengthens Position in Alloys with Acquisition of Magnetec Group

Luxembourg April 1, 2026 (18:30 CEST) - Aperam S.A. (Aperam), a global player in stainless, electrical, alloys and specialty steel as well recycling and renewables, announces that it has acquired the Magnetec Group (Magnetec), a producer of nanocrystalline soft magnetic components. Magnetec Group was subject to preliminary insolvency proceedings. The transaction supports the continued development of Aperam’s Alloys & Specialties division by expanding its downstream activities and strengthening its position in electrical engineering and electronics markets globally.

Magnetec Group, founded in 1984 and headquartered in Hanau, Germany, operates a vertically integrated value chain for nanocrystalline ribbons and cores. The company serves Automotive, Energy, Safety and General Industry customers across Europe, Asia and the United States, with production facilities in Hungary, Moldova, Vietnam and China.

This acquisition builds on the successful initial development of Aperam’s components activities within the Alloys & Specialties division in France and China. Aperam Alloys & Specialties is already a market leader in energy applications with advanced manufacturing capabilities in France and India, and has expanded its exposure to aerospace and defence markets following the acquisition of Universal Stainless & Alloy Products in the U.S. With Magnetec, Aperam further broadens its presence into electronics and engineering applications while reinforcing its innovation-driven growth strategy.

The combined activities will enhance Aperam’s product offering and R&D capabilities while leveraging a complementary global industrial footprint to strengthen supply chain resilience and customer reach.

Commenting on the transaction, Sud Sivaji, Chief Executive Officer of Aperam, said:

The acquisition of Magnetec represents an important strategic step in the continued development of our Alloys & Specialties division. It strengthens our position in high-growth electrical and electronic applications and expands our downstream capabilities in advanced magnetic solutions. Building on our leadership in energy and our expansion into aerospace and defence, this transaction further advances Aperam’s transformation towards diversified high value-added, innovation-driven markets while leveraging our global industrial and commercial platform.
