Media Release

April 2026, Sensirion AG, 8712 Stäfa, Schweiz

Sensirion partners with ClimeFi for durable carbon removal

Sensirion, a leading manufacturer of smart gas sensor solutions, has partnered with ClimeFi, a leading platform for carbon removal procurement and management, to procure a robust portfolio of durable carbon removal solutions. The portfolio spans three carbon removal pathways, with supply secured until 2028. Through this collaboration, Sensirion has deepened its expertise in carbon removal, further strengthened its commitment to sustainability and accelerated its path to net zero.

Sensirion has committed to the Swiss federal government’s net-zero target for 2050. The high-tech company focuses on preventing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions to optimize its carbon footprint. Sensirion obtains electricity from its own solar cells and clean sources at all locations worldwide. In addition, hard-to-abate residual emissions are compensated for with investments in carbon removal projects.

In 2025, Sensirion procured a significant amount of durable, high-quality carbon removal through ClimeFi. The portfolio spans three carbon removal pathways: direct air capture (DAC), biomass with carbon removal and storage (BiCRS), and mineralization. DAC uses advanced filtration systems to capture CO₂ directly from the atmosphere and store it underground for long-term storage. BiCRS uses carbon-rich biomass waste and stores it in stable, long-term reservoirs to reduce the likelihood of CO₂ returning to the atmosphere. Mineralization transforms CO₂ into stable minerals or carbonate materials, locking carbon in solid form for long-term storage.

By partnering with ClimeFi, Sensirion has gained access to a range of high-quality, durable carbon removal projects as well as active and dynamic insights into portfolio monitoring. In return, Sensirion has expanded its commitment to carbon removal, further strengthened its firm commitment to sustainability and accelerated its path to net zero.

Loan Nham, Senior Manager Corporate Projects at Sensirion: “ClimeFi plays an important role in securing a reliable, long-term supply of durable carbon removal, which is essential to our net-zero commitment. Through its transparent and continuous approach to portfolio management, ClimeFi has enabled us to effectively mitigate the delivery risks typically associated with emerging technologies in the durable carbon removal market and bring us closer to achieving our climate goals.”

Paolo Piffaretti, CEO and Co-Founder at ClimeFi: “We are delighted to support Sensirion in achieving its ambitious climate goals. By building and managing a diverse portfolio spanning multiple pathways, across multiple years, we have provided Sensirion with the access and intelligence to make durable carbon removal a core pillar of its long-term climate strategy.”
