DRONE VOLT confirms the growth trajectory of its LineDrone in a promising market

Villepinte, April 1, 2026

DRONE VOLT, a French manufacturer of professional drones and a leading technology player in aerial robotics, confirms the growing momentum of its LineDrone, a disruptive technological solution designed for operations on very high-voltage power lines (from 315,000 volts to 735,000 volts, or 315 kV to 735 kV).

Against a backdrop of growing geopolitical tensions surrounding energy and supply security, DRONE VOLT confirms the growing momentum of its LineDrone. Already deployed in several strategic areas, particularly in North America, the LineDrone is gradually establishing itself as a benchmark in a segment historically dominated by heavy, costly equipment involving high human exposure. In particular, it enables the inspection of bushings and the installation of sensors and bird deterrents.

Tangible commercial acceleration

This in-house developed drone is proving its ability to meet the expectations of industry players, with five major industrial clients now regularly using the drone and its associated services.

This development confirms a rapid acceleration in adoption within a market still largely underserved by innovative solutions. To date, the LineDrone has achieved a 100% operational success rate, demonstrating the solution's robustness, reliability, and effectiveness under real-world operational conditions.

A massive and evolving global market

The LineDrone thus addresses key challenges in a vast market with significant potential:

  • More than 80 million kilometers of power lines worldwide
    (according to the International Energy Agency and the World Bank);
  • $300 to $400 billion in annual investments in power grids
    (according to the International Energy Agency).

Electric infrastructure is becoming a critical asset requiring safer, faster, and more efficient solutions.

Today, operations on high- and extra-high-voltage lines still rely primarily on traditional methods, including multiple helicopters per operation, large crews, high operating costs, and, ultimately, significant risks to human life.

The LineDrone: a disruptive technology designed to address the sector's challenges

While traditional operations on high-voltage lines require heavy logistics, the LineDrone represents a disruptive technology, gradually replacing traditional aerial methods and providing an immediate solution to the sector's key challenges by:

  • Optimizing the performance of power grids;
  • Significantly reducing operational costs;
  • Enhancing the safety of operations;

The adoption of LineDrone is driven by the most dynamic markets, in particular areas where energy demand is growing rapidly, featuring technologically advanced operators and regions subject to high operational constraints.

From an inspection solution to a multi-mission industrial platform

Originally designed for inspection, LineDrones are now versatile industrial platforms covering the entire value chain of power grids. They enable operations across four key areas:

  • Advanced inspection:
    • Inspection of extra-high-voltage lines;
    • Detection of anomalies and rapid, accurate diagnostics.
  • Protection against bird strikes
    • Significant potential for deploying anti-collision devices;
    • Reduced risks to biodiversity;
    • Bringing infrastructure into environmental compliance (estimated market of between 3 and 8 billion euros over 10 years according to the European Commission and RTE (SafeLines4Birds program)).
  • Energy optimization of power grids
    • Application of innovative coatings via drone, directly on live power lines;
    • Reduction in conductor temperature;
    • Limiting electrical losses;
    • Optimization of overall infrastructure efficiency.
  • Smart grid instrumentation (DLR)
    • Installation of Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) sensors;
    • Integration of solutions such as Ampacimon;
    • Real-time measurement of line capacities;
    • Dynamic optimization of power transmission.

Structural growth prospects

With hundreds of thousands of kilometers of lines to maintain and modernize, LineDrone has considerable growth potential.

Against a backdrop of the transition to smart grids, increased cost pressures, and heightened demands for safety and sustainable performance, LineDrones are at the heart of a structural transformation of the global energy sector.

DRONE VOLT is leveraging a pipeline of identified opportunities to continue the commercial development of the LineDrone, primarily in Europe, North America, and Australia.

Marc COURCELLE, CEO of DRONE VOLT, states: “The momentum we are seeing today around the LineDrone confirms the relevance of our strategic vision: to deliver disruptive technological solutions to critical industrial markets. The rapid expansion to five major industrial clients in the extra-high voltage segment illustrates a tangible acceleration in the adoption of our technology. We are addressing a market still largely dominated by heavy and costly traditional methods, where safety and performance issues are becoming central. LineDrones provide an immediate, effective, and sustainable response to these challenges. Beyond inspection, the expansion of our capabilities into high-value-added operations such as bird strike protection, smart grid instrumentation, and energy optimization significantly strengthens our value proposition. We are convinced that this momentum will continue to grow in the coming years. DRONE VOLT intends to fully support the transformation of the energy sector by establishing itself as a leading player in the smart and secure operation of electrical infrastructure.
