Gimv Anchor invests in Batenburg Techniek, a leading Dutch provider of industrial electrification and automation solutions

Press release

Antwerp (BE), The Hague & Rotterdam (NL), September 9, 2026, 07:30 CET

Gimv Anchor invests in Batenburg Techniek, a leading Dutch provider of industrial electrification and automation solutions

  • Gimv Anchor Investments (“Gimv Anchor”) is acquiring a stake in Batenburg Techniek, the leading Dutch player in industrial electrification and automation solutions (Rotterdam, ~EUR 342m revenue in 2025, >1,300 employees), alongside VP Capital and management.
  • Batenburg Techniek is central to the electrification and automation needs of its industrial clients, underpinned by decades-long client relationships and a differentiating in-house combination of innovative electrification and automation capabilities.
  • This marks Gimv Anchor's first investment in a Dutch champion, following investments in Cegeka and Azelis. Gimv Anchor will support Batenburg Techniek’s next phase of growth as a long-term, active shareholder.

Founded in 1919 and headquartered in Rotterdam, Batenburg Techniek (https://www.batenburg.nl/) has a reputable name in the Dutch industrial landscape. The company operates across the full technical value chain (supplying hardware, software, engineering, installation and maintenance services) and generates around EUR 342 million in revenue with more than 1,300 employees. The company has a strong track record with around 10% average annual revenue growth over the past decade.

Batenburg Techniek helps clients across a broad range of sectors, including industry, energy, digital and water infrastructure, utilities, logistics and technology-driven horticulture, tackle complex electrification and automation challenges. As grid congestion, energy transition, electric transport, labour scarcity and digitalisation reshape the Dutch and European industry, Batenburg Techniek is well positioned by offering both electrification and automation capabilities. Technology and innovation are key elements of its DNA. By leveraging this, the company is able to offer innovative end-to-end solutions, combining hardware, software and integration services.

The company benefits from long-standing client relationships, built on deep integration in clients’ critical processes, through installation, maintenance, software and on-site support, combined with in-house engineering and proprietary technology. This has created a diversified, blue-chip customer base across various end-markets.

Batenburg Techniek’s positioning aligns closely with the focus and in-house expertise of two of Gimv’s investment platforms: the electrification and energy-transition themes are at the core of Sustainable Cities, and the automation and digital-industrial capabilities are central to Smart Industries.

The strategy of Gimv Anchor, the joint venture of Gimv and WorxInvest, is to build and back European champions in their long-term growth and value creation, acting as a long-term shareholder and a constructive sounding board for companies and their stakeholders. The investment in Batenburg Techniek is Gimv Anchor’s first investment in a Dutch champion, following investments in Cegeka and the listed BEL 20 company Azelis. Gimv Anchor’s investment will provide Batenburg Techniek with strategic support to accelerate its growth.

Bart Troubleyn, Managing Partner & Head of Gimv Anchor and Floris Van Halder Partner of Gimv Anchor, jointly declare: “Batenburg Techniek operates where the future of industry is taking shape: at the intersection of electrification and automation. The company has a reputable name in the Netherlands, with a long-standing client base and a differentiating combination of engineering depth and software talent. We are proud to partner alongside VP Capital and the management team, and to support the company as a long-term, active shareholder.”

Guus van Puijenbroek, VP Capital, comments: “At VP Capital, we believe in long-term partnerships and in supporting companies that combine strong business performance with a positive contribution to society. We continue to see significant potential for Batenburg Techniek and believe that bringing in a strong, like-minded shareholder is the right next step to support the company’s further development. In Gimv Anchor, we have found a partner who shares our long-term perspective and our belief in Batenburg Techniek’s strategy and ambitions, while bringing complementary industry expertise and experience in supporting ambitious growth companies.”
