Cologne/Wuppertal, 22 May 2026 – BarmeniaGothaer has closed the 2025 financial year with very good growth figures. The BarmeniaGothaer Group’s premium income in 2025 totalled 9.27 billion euros, representing an increase of 7.8 percent[1] over the previous year and growth of 1.2 percentage points above market level.[2] The Group’s equity base climbed to a strong 2.07 billion euros in 2025 (PY: 1.99 billion euros). Its Solvency II ratio (excluding transitional measures on technical provisions) improved from 189.3 percent in 2024 to 225.6 percent. Consolidated net income for the year (after tax and before adjustment of the equalization reserve) increased from 63.5 million euros to 180.5 million euros.

Gross premiums written by Gothaer Allgemeine Versicherung AG in the region of 2.88 billion euros represent an 8.3 percent increase versus 2024 and notable above-market growth (market growth: 7.6 percent).[3] Net income for the year (after taxes and before adjustment of the equalization reserve) stood at 80.1 million euros – an increase of 78 percent versus the previous year. The (gross) combined ratio improved by 2.6 percentage points to 90.8 percent. The Solvency II ratio of the property and casualty insurer (with undertaking-specific parameters) rose by 17.8 percentage points to 181.0 percent.

Rating agency S&P Global Ratings (S&P) confirmed the ratings of Gothaer Allgemeine Versicherung AG, Gothaer Krankenversicherung AG and Gothaer Lebensversicherung AG in June 2025. All three companies have retained their ‘A’ rating. The outlook remains ‘positive’. S&P’s positive outlook has opened up an opportunity to improve the current rating by a further increment to ‘A+’ within the next 12 to 24 months.[4]
