hep global begins construction of an 8 MWp solar park with battery storage in Schongau

Güglingen, 16 June 2026 – hep global GmbH (hep global), a specialist in the development of solar projects, has started construction of a solar park in Schongau, Bavaria. Solar park Schongau is an installation with a capacity of 8 MWp including an integrated battery storage system with a capacity of 6.1 MWh and an output of around 3 MW. The new facility is being built alongside an existing solar park. Project owner is hep energy GmbH, a subsidiary of hep global.

The integrated green energy storage system makes it possible to temporarily store surplus solar power and feed it into the grid as needed – even during periods of low solar irradiation. “Expanding renewable energy alone is not enough – what matters is ensuring it is reliably available when needed,” says Johannes Liepert, Senior Associate Project Development Germany. “By combining a solar park with integrated green energy storage, we create exactly this flexibility and make an important contribution to stabilizing the power grid.”

Initial progress is already visible at the site which is located near a gravel plant north of the residential areas of Schongau and Altenstadt: civil engineering works have been completed, and all necessary access roads have been constructed. A large turning area has been created for the delivery of construction materials, allowing trucks weighing up to 60 tonnes to maneuver. Upon completion of the solar park, this area will serve as a designated operational space for the fire brigade. hep global expects to reach Commercial Operation Date by the end of this year.

The consistent use of all available land in the project development process resulted in a distinctive, segmented layout for this solar park – with slightly higher fencing requirements, but maximum energy efficiency. In the future, the solar park will be capable of generating more than 9.3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, supplying around 2,744 households. The operational lifetime is designed for at least 20 years.

The project was developed as part of a strategic partnership with Volllast GmbH, a photovoltaic specialist based in southern Germany.
