Net5.5G Intelligent IP Network Summit Held Successfully, Highlighting Secure, Resilient IP Networks as the Foundation for AI-Era New GrowthEQS-News: Huawei / Key word(s): Miscellaneous VIENNA, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- During the Global Ultra-Broadband Forum (UBBF) 2026, the Net5.5G Intelligent IP Network Summit was successfully held. Centered around the theme "Security and Resilience for Networks, Smart New Growth for Carriers," GSMA Intelligence interpreted its newly released cybersecurity white paper globally for the first time. ITU-T SG13 joined hands with WBBA to launch a joint initiative, calling on global carriers to build a secure and resilient network foundation while leveraging AI for new business monetization models, effectively mitigating emerging security risks in the AI era. At the summit, representatives from ITU-T SG13 and AV-TEST shared insights into the evolving threat landscape under the AI wave. They emphasized that AI has accelerated and amplified attack scales, breaking the traditional balance of offensive and defensive security. Security and resilience, therefore, must be elevated as strategic imperative and built from the ground up by design into network architecture. GSMA Intelligence unveiled its "a target architecture for telecoms cybersecurity white paper," highlighting two core pillars essential for modern telecom networks: first, Native Security emphasizes that security should be embedded into network elements from design and production through to deployment and operation; Then, in-depth defense provides multi-layered, domain-based protection against complex and persistent threats. Furthermore, the white paper issued a forward-looking alert regarding quantum computing decryption threats—noting that bad actors harvest and store encrypted data for later decryption. Carriers therefore need to adopt new cryptography algorithms and cybersecurity practices that provide resistance to future attack by quantum computers. In response, ITU-T SG13 and WBBA jointly launched the "Build Resilient, Secure IP Networks Together" initiative, encouraging global carriers to enhance network security and resilience to guarantee high service reliability and continuity in the AI era. Considering the challenges, Leon Wang, President of Huawei's Data Communication Product Line, noted that AI has evolved from an efficiency tool into a network monetization engine, adding that sustained growth demands a secure, resilient foundation. John Cai, Vice President of Huawei's Data Communication Product Line, subsequently detailed the upgraded Huawei NG WAN Solution. Additionally, executive representatives from leading global carriers shared their strategic roadmaps and innovative practices in network security resilience and autonomous networking. The President of the IPv6 Forum presented awards to outstanding carrier representatives and honored Egypt's National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) with the "Pioneer of National Network Resilience Policy" award, quoting Eng. Shamroukh, Executive President and CEO of NTRA, this award is for "the outstanding efforts in building resilient and secure IP networks and advancing child online safety initiatives." These recognitions further reinforced the industry consensus of "ensuring service continuity through security & resilience and driving business growth through network intelligence." The success of this summit not only charts a clear evolution path for network security in the AI era, but also signals that global telecom networks are accelerating into a new intelligent era defined by high quality, high security, and high resilience.
