01.04.2026 / 09:00 CET/CEST

Baar-Zug, Switzerland; 1 April 2026

  • The role will be based at Partners Group's US headquarters
  • Pete will be responsible for new investments and value creation initiatives across the firm’s Health & Life portfolio
  • Partners Group has a strong track record in Health & Life, with approximately USD 13.2 billion invested in the sector to-date

Partners Group, one of the largest firms in the global private markets industry, has appointed Pete Zippelius as Co-Head of its Private Equity Health & Life Vertical. Pete will be based at Partners Group’s US headquarters and will join the firm in September 2026.

Pete will co-lead the Private Equity Health & Life Vertical alongside Benjamin Breier, who joined the firm in 2022. In this role, he will be responsible for originating, underwriting, and executing new investments, as well as overseeing transformational value creation initiatives across the firm’s Health & Life portfolio. The Private Equity Health & Life Vertical comprises around 40 investment professionals across Europe, the US, and Asia-Pacific and forms part of Partners Group’s global Private Equity business.

Before joining Partners Group, Pete spent over two decades in private equity and investment banking roles. Most recently, he was Investment Partner and member of the Investment Committee and Operating Committee at Leonard Green & Partners where he led and managed USD 8 billion of equity investments in the healthcare and life sciences industry across large-cap, middle-market, structured equity, debt, and secondaries strategies. In addition, Pete played a central role in designing and building Leonard Green's operating structure including industry verticals, professional development, cross fund staffing, CRM implementation, and leadership committees, and also supported the firm’s expansion into additional fund strategies.

Earlier in his career, Pete held senior leadership positions in healthcare investment banking, including Co-Head of North American Healthcare Investment Banking at J.P. Morgan, Co-Head of Healthcare Services Investment Banking at Deutsche Bank, and Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, where he advised on and executed a broad range of healthcare services, life sciences, and healthcare technology transactions globally.

Wolf Scheider, Head of Private Equity, Partners Group, comments: "Pete brings deep sector expertise and a proven track record of building and scaling high-quality healthcare and life sciences businesses. Our thematic research continues to identify compelling opportunities driven by demographic trends, innovation, and healthcare system transformation, and Pete will play a key role in further strengthening our Health & Life platform globally."

Pete Zippelius adds: "Partners Group is one of the best positioned private markets firms in the world. Furthermore, their integrated private markets platform and long-term, thematic investment approach are highly differentiated. I am excited to join the firm and work with the team to identify new investment opportunities and to help build leading healthcare and life businesses across the portfolio."

Benjamin Breier, Co-Head Private Equity Health & Life, Partners Group, concludes: "Pete is a highly respected investor that I have known and worked with for over two decades. The healthcare and life sciences sectors continue to offer compelling investment opportunities and Peter’s capabilities across origination, investment, and value creation will be valuable as we look to capitalize on this. We are excited to welcome Pete to the Partners Group Health & Life team."

Partners Group has an established presence in the Health & Life sector, with investments spanning healthcare services, life sciences, medical technology, and related subsectors, and has generated significant value for its clients through active ownership and operational value creation.

This appointment follows the recent appointments of Nicholas Smith Wang as Co-Head of Private Equity Technology and Tarak Mehta as Co-head of Private Equity Goods & Products, underlining Partners Group’s continued commitment to strengthening its private equity leadership team. Partners Group’s Private Equity business has USD 86 billion in overall assets under management globally.
